Shadows of My Wild Pony was recorded live in Amherst, Massachusetts at the home recording studio of my friend and fellow musician Matt Leitl. It was a very fun, laid back atmosphere. The beer bottle slide is the only instrument added in after the recording (by his roomate). The second my brother Jon walked into the house, a kitten even curled up on his lap. A perfect end to the summer...
lyrics
It's always cold on the mountain I named
for the bride on the horse in my dreams
For his face is so fair
His hair is so brown that curls like the rolling streams
I know you, I know you will never call me your dear
We'll never swim with the stars of the sky
Or kiss while the moon above steers
The bride rode away through the hills and the glen
Tears flying trees whipping her face
Still hoping in vain he would appear in the path
And marry her as it was to have been
I know you, I know you will run the whole way till you drop
Laughing you'll fall as remembering the way
and the music of your own love's sweet face
You'll never know the sound of the voice that cried so dearly for you
That echoes alone against a basin of stone
All desire in a gown of blue
that echoes alone against a basin of stone all desire in a gown of blue
It's always cold on the mountain I named for the bride
on the horse in my dreams
His face is so fair
His hair is so brown
That curls like the rolling streams
